December 5 - World Soil Day

"Keep soil alive, protect soil biodiversity" is the theme of this year's World Soil Day 2020, which aims to highlight the importance of maintaining healthy ecosystems for the well-being of humans and all living things.

The "Skakavac" Nature Monument

Prostor spomenika prirode “Skakavac“ nalazi se 12 km sjeveroistočno od grada Sarajeva. Ukupna površina zaštićenog područja iznosi 1.430,70 ha (oko 1,14%). Proglašen je spomenikom prirode tokom 2002. godine, na osnovu evaluacije prirodnih vrijednosti u skladu sa kategorizacijom IUCN-a te spada u III kategoriju. Sa planinom Ozren čini jedinstveni geomorfološki kompleks sa vrlo izraženom horizontalnom i vertikalnom raščlanjenošću reljefa.

October 13 - International Day for Disaster Reduction

International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction is dedicated to preserving the environment and preventing the risk of natural disasters. The initiative began in 1989 following a call by the United Nations General Assembly, which sees this day as a way to promote a culture of risk awareness and risk reduction which includes disaster prevention, mitigation and preparedness to respond.

First Monday of October - World Habitat Day

World Habitat Day is celebrated on the first Monday of October each year. On this day, the United Nations wants to remind the world of the situation in our countries and cities, but also of the collective responsibility we have towards each other in preserving our habitat.
